About Us

Community Builders Australia is a digital engagement firm that works with a wide range of organisations across the corporate, non-profit, legal and government spheres.

Our team has been working in digital engagement for the past 15 years, with clients ranging from large industry associations, such as the Law Society of NSW and the European Australian Business Chamber, through to conference organisers and humanitarian and non-profit organisations such as the International Commission of Jurists – Australian Section, NSW Right to Life, Voiceless – the Animal Protection Institute, the Chinese Australian Forum, the NSW Society for Computers & the Law and the NSW Parents Council.

While we develop and implement technology to assist organisations engage online, our focus is on helping our clients communicate more effectively and efficiently with their community – and not just blindly jump on the next technological bandwagon for the sake of it.

What's a Social Enterprise?

"Social Enterprises" come in many shapes and forms, both for profit and non-profit, but the common thread we share is that profit maximisation is not our primary goal. Instead, profits are a means to ensuring sustainability and achieving positive social outcomes.

Community Builders operates as a social enterprise because our focus is on empowering communities through the dedicated application of our technical skills, experience and innovation.

Our Social Innovation projects include:

  • myMP - a website prototype developed at the inaugural GovHack, to provide information about State and Federal politicians

  • Australian Hashtags - a user generated dictionary of hashtags being used in Australian public discussion

  • Two Bob's Worth - a micro-volunteering platform that won 2nd prize at the inaugural Australian Social Innovation Camp this year

If you would like to contribute to these projects, please contact us.

Open Innovation

As big supporters and users of Open Source technologies, it is not surprising that we believe Open Innovation can help our clients achieve their goals more rapidly.

Consequently, we are assisting legal.consult with the development of online tools for the upcoming launch of Free Open Creative Law - a hub for information and discussion around Open Innovation and "public" licensing models.
